When I was a 12 year old boy I made a red velvet covered board and made my own wooden frame, mounted Kennedy half dollars on it and sent it to Jackie Kennedy when JFK was killed. A buddy in the army used to send his little friend bullet casings which I did the same thing to. Now 40 years later started mounting gourds on my leather covered boards and make my own frames. This all occurred to me recently, and made me wonder what this all meant after 40 years.
I have developed a technique, as a goof and was told by friends to take them to art shows. The rest as they say is history. I use gourds, leather, copper, exotic beads, and paints. I was always a woodworker and fount similar qualities in gourds, and a whole lot more.
