Using a new and modern approach to the old technique of Batik, Sandra Grassi Nelipovich fashions fanciful work of art with a unique primitive feeling. All of her Batiks are original and one of a kind. She earned a BFA in art education at the University of Illinois and did graduate work in Florence, Italy, at Northwestern University and at the Art Institute of Chicago. She has displayed her work in many invitational exhibitions and juried shows and has won numerous awards including several first place, Juror’s Choice and Purchase Awards.
Her Batiks are displayed in galleries and collections nationwide including the McDonald’s Corporation Permanent Fine Arts Collection as well as many school and library systems. She also painted four murals for a Chicago area media center. Sandra has been accepted into International Leaders in Achievement and is listed in numerous other publications including Who’s Who of American Women, Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World. She is also a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
