Some art hangs on the wall and some art stands on the floor. My art is wearable.
I majored in music and elementary education in my undergraduate studies, and then taught those subjects for 20 years. Deciding that I needed something more in my life, I attended the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, and earned a Masters Degree in Visual and Performing Arts. I then taught on the college level for a couple of years.
Believing that I was ready to “do” rather than teach, I decided to combine my love of the traditional crafts of knitting and crocheting with the new non-traditional fibers and beads and create unique accessories that decorate the mind as well as the body. Friends prompted me to go public.
Creating accessories out of different types of fibers and beads is a passion of mine. I have recently begun to create pieces with sterling silver and gold wire, incorporating pearls, crystals and natural gemstones to create purses, chokers and bracelet cuffs.
My goal as an artist is to create a piece that is unique, classy, and above all fun to wear.
