I am an Arizona native; born and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. After obtaining my Bachelor in Psychology from the University of Arizona and Master of Social Work from Arizona State University I moved to Kansas City, Missouri. Being a true “desert rat” I returned home to Arizona and have resided in Tucson since 1998.
The first jewelry class I took was basic beading in 2005 when I wanted to learn how to fix broken necklaces, which belong to my grandmother. After that first class, I was hooked. Since then I have taken training in metal clay, wire wrapping, chain maille, hand-knotting pearls, soldering, fusing, lampworking and metalsmithing. Additionally, I am a Certified Instructor for Art Clay. I do not have one single favorite medium and I am always open to learning new skills.
In 2011, I entered three pieces in my first contest. To my delight my earrings won Silver and my bracelet tied for bronze with Fire Mountain Gems and Beads contest. I am honored to be the recipient of these awards.
My company name, Catalina Creations, comes from the Santa Catalina Mountains which outline Tucson. My great-grandparents built a cabin in these mountains in 1908. Five generations later we still maintain the cabin and spend many wonderful summers there.
I am transitioning from a long standing career in law enforcement to becoming a life coach specializing in exercise and fitness. I enjoy helping individuals who have been blocked reach their ultimate goals in fitness and life in general. I also market a comprehensive organizer which couples can use to plan their wedding.
My free time is spent with my husband, child and four dogs. I also enjoy weight training and long distance bicycling.
