Silence is Golden
for Library Arts Program
The Silent Auction at the ArtFest of Henderson reflects a history of co-sponsored events and projects between the Henderson District Public Libraries (HDPL) and the City of Henderson. The HDPL and the City of Henderson, Cultural Arts & Tourism Department share the goals of providing arts, culture, literacy and entertainment to the citizens of Henderson and the Las Vegas Valley. ArtFest of Henderson’s Silent Auction provides another perfect opportunity for the City and the library, working together, to accomplish these goals.

Mary Hamilton
Jewelry
The Black Swan is elegant and graceful while at the same time a bit unusual. That is why I chose it to represent my designs. Every piece is unique and never duplicated. I work with stones and minerals in their natural state. Designs containing natural materials are backed with glove leather. This prevents snags or marks on your clothing, and feels smooth and soft on your skin.
Some of my favorite stones are: Amethyst, Quartz
Crystal, (in many different colors), Citrine, Turquoise, Hematite, and Onyx. Since we all have different tastes, I try to design a wide variety of lengths and sizes for my necklaces and earrings. You can choose from a variety of materials ranging from gold to silver, semi-precious bead strands, or precious metal beads in all sizes.
I can custom make all my designs to your specifications. Let me know your preference for color, length, weight and whether you prefer gold or silver. For example: a vintage Victorian look with black annealed wire; a southwestern look with turquoise chunks and "liquid silver" beads. Reach me online at www.hamiltonjewelry.com.

Leslie Hawkins
Expressions by Leslie
It seems Leslie has either been drawing, painting, or sculpting all of her life! Since she was in grade school, she has always had a love for art, and for creating it. In high school she took as many drawing and painting classes as were offered, and also entered and placed in several local juried art shows.
While at the Univ. of Nevada, Las Vegas, she received an award for a watercolor painting done in watercolor and designers gouache. She also had a feature article written about her ceramic sculpture in the Las Vegas Review Journal, and sold her sculpture at a Las Vegas Gallery. Leslie also donated a piece to be auctioned at a benefit for The Lied Discovery Museum for Children. Several years ago she taught fabric painting classes at a local art and craft supply store as well as after school art classes for children.
Now she devotes all of her time to creating unique clothing that is both fun and functional. She uses her love of art to "express" herself, and is gratified by the compliments and testimonials of the loyal clientele who seek out her work. Reach Leslie online at www.expressionsbyleslie.com.

Deborah Mays
Photography
I was raised in rural New York and became interested in painting and photography in my early teens. I now live in Nevada where I continue to develop my passion for photography and painting.
Photography plays a significant role in the development of ideas for my new paintings. I am attracted to lines, patterns and bright colors as well as complementary colors, warms against cools, and lights against darks. Photography allows me to capture the sense of the moment, sight, sound and smell of a particular situation. Photographs from a vacation, holiday, or just ordinary situations allow me to capture the spirit of the moment and are often used as resources for new paintings done in oils, watercolors or acrylics.
